The Butler Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 seemed to draw our biggest crowd ever! Thank you, Butler community, for coming out to participate with parade entries, or by joining in the fun to watch the parade.
Parade Marshals (from left) Katrina Vermaas Leach, Josina Vermaas Erickson and Diana Vermaas, family of the late Brad Vermaas, who served as Butler’s Santa for many years.
Little Miss Snowflake Jordan Porter, and Little Jack Frost Kameron Mallatt.
5-year-old Braelynn Isaacson, runner up to Little Miss Snowflake. Our contestants are chosen based on book sales, and the top two girls finished a very close race by only 3 books!

1st Place float for the Church category: St. Matthew Lutheran
Immanuel Baptist’s “God Squad” youth ministry handed out hot cocoa during the parade
First Place in Clubs: Girl Scout Troop #1426
First Place Business & winning the traveling trophy: Quality Home Care
Mike Taranto won first place for the car category (apologies, no photo available). Pictured, his grandson Damien Richardson in “reindeer gear” followed his grandpa’s truck.
1st in Tractors: Bob Surber for the Western Mo Antique Tractor & Machinery Association
First in horses: Patti Hoskins with her miniature donkey team Biscuit and her baby boy, Bug. The donkeys were spooked by the night lights and noises and, unfortunately, didn’t make it through the parade long enough for us to get a good photo. Pictured is the team with Patti at the Archie parade last summer.
Thanks to all who helped repair Santa’s house, kids were able to meet Santa and share their wishes for Christmas.
Merry Christmas to all!
